Charles B. Whittemore Esq.

Dear Sir
Thompson Hicks complains that one Grey Burt, seduced his daughter. The result is the birth of a child. This case was up, over a year ago, and papers issued for the arrest of the man. Grey Burt left for parts unknown. He now turns up at Mr Charles Johnson's five miles north of Chapel Hill. Will you please look after this man and do what you can to obtain from him something for the support of the child. The child was sworn upon him.

Yours Respectfully,
H.C. Vogell.
