To Bureau Agent Hillsboro NC
Sir
Jerry Walker Came to see you in regard to some meat or a hog last year Jerry traded for A pig from one Thos Bass, which pig turned out to belong to Dr. Wm Merritt
Dr. Merritt knew all the time that Jerry had the hog. He suffered Jerry to keep the pig all summer fall & winter. until Jerry fattened & killed it & this set up claims to the pork. The matter was brought before my Sup and several other magistrates. Dr. Merrill passed a good title to the pig & identified Jerrys hog.
Jan. we were compelled to give Merritt the meat but told him that in Equity Jerry but to have at least half of the pork as it was customary to give half for fattening. and Jerry also raised the hog. Dr. Merritt agreed to refer the matter to me as an arbiter. I decided that he give Jerry the worth of half the meat in money which he (Merritt) has not done. These are the facts as nearly as I can state them.
Yours Truly
JD Wilkerson
P.S. Jerry says the hog weight 120 lbs. which I judge is correct. It was a very ordinary pig when I Jerry got in March
