July 30th 1868
Mebansville N.C.

In Sept 1867 I entered into an agreement A. Saiel Nilson of Organe Co. N.C. to take ten acheres of new land situated on R.R. and clear it

The bargain was that I should clear the wood Nilson receiving Rail-wood but I was to have the Tree-tops and tree bodies unfit for rails Besides I was to remain in the possession of the 10 achers for 2 years

I was to clear also

There was an old field which I feneled up and cleared three achers of ground and a field in which the house stood [[strikethrough]] in [[strikethrough]] of 2 achers I paid him the rent for.

The house not being big enough for me I [[strikethrough]] he [[strikethrough]] agreed to assist him in putting an end to the house I cut nearly all the logs for the house and thought that as far as I could do In raising the [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] house he said I must find half dinner

He said the house belonged to me as long as I desired it
For which I have witness the dispute.

I was not sure if the term "feneled" was a correct transcription.
