Maj Hays

Dear sir
I have been requested by Mills Saunders to go to Hillsboro tomorrow in a matter of Dispute between him & Willie henderson I am very sorry that I cannot possibly go tomorrow owing to the fact that I have a number of hands at work for me & I want to stop my mill Down tomorro, I will say to you that I bought Mills wife when she was 8 years of age and she is a smart girl & Mills has been a very good obedient boy ever since he has had her for a wife he is good disposed & industrious so far as I know Henderson is a contentious sorry man and would take any advantage that he could of any man or more particular of a colored man if I was to advise you in this matter at all I would say to you not to rely on what he would say for he is not reliable and I should not believe him myself unless it was corroborated by other testimony

yours very respectfully
