The money will be expended ase heretofore June and drawn from the Chief D.O. as it may be required. |

| 13 | Horner, Arthur B., Sub-Asst. Com'r. | 3. Columbia, Texas, Aug. 11, 1868. Writes relative to the removal of the church.

Reports that Mary Davis does not give satisfaction teaching. All of her pupils have left but three and she has given up her school house. |

| 29 | Howard. Wm. H. * Sub-Asst. Com'r. | 4. Huntsville, Texas, Aug. 26, 1868. States that a white teacher has been driven away from Polk County and that he has placed her in charge of the Huntsville School. |

Recommends furnishing a school house in Brazoria unless the Bureau intends to build one.

Wm McClay (f.m.c.) has a school of 20 pupils in West Columbia. The freedmen have bought the land and a house which needs repairs and will repair it if the Bureau will provide the lumber. |
