The subject of education of the freedpeople is one of very little interest to them. I have been trying to get some timber donated for the purpose of building a log school House here but not succeeded. I called the freedmen together some time since to take action on the subject of education. They subscribed some toward building and were more than anxious to have a school started and with the help of one hundred Dollars from the Bureau I think we shall be ready for a teacher by the 1st Sept or Oct. there are from fifty to sixty that will attend a day school and many will attend a night school.

Very Respectfully
