Since the 1st Feby. I have been able to devote some attention to the subject of education, and have the honor to report three good schools in operation in this County, one in Huntrsville with thirty one scholars, one at Stubblefield Mill with twenty three scholars, and one on Trinity River with eighteen scholars, the larger proportion being girls. The fact that there are no very large plantations in this County, and that it is not thickly settled, is found to operate against the establishment of schools; freed people are eager to send their children to school, but in many cases
