Bureau of R.F. & A.L.
LB. 188. Huntsville April 1st 1867.

Lieut. J.T. Kirkman
Sup of Schools
Bureau R.F, & A.L.

Lieut:
I have the honor to enclose herewith my "School Report" for month of March 1867. Since last report a slight decrease in number of scholars is formed, the change occurs in Mrs. M.E. Tanners school in Huntsville; no doubt accounted for by the very cold weather during month of March, and for accommodations she has have been daily expecting the arrival of the School Supt and wish it could have been convenient to visit Huntsville prior to my taking advantage of leave of absence granted me. The chance for a good school at this point is flattering, Huntsville with its population of freed persons can and will support a large school with a good teacher. The money collected by this office is about to be invested in a tract of land for a school house and parties are again soliciting subcontractors for the purpose of erecting the building; of the success of the undertaking I am sanguine. Board can be obtained for $30.00 specie per month. A decided change has recently taken place in the feeling of the people regards
