The cotton crop being a failure I have been obliged to close the two schools that were in operation for the teachers were not receiving anything for their services, and they being new of school means they cannot afford to teach without pay. The weather is hot too, and the attendance was very small during July. I have given up the school rooms to the owners, knowing that economy is the policy of the Bureau. There is of no prospect of starting Schools to here next fall unless some assistance is received by by the Gov, some benevolent society, or received from the School fund of the State.
