This school has had but a brief existence as Mr. Goodin has accepted the vacation offered in Circular No. 6 C.S. from Hd. Qrs. Bureau R.F. & A.L. State of Texas, and as 
he only commenced this school on the 27th of last May,

The school taught by Bunit[[guess]] Davis was located on the plantation of R. D. Souel[[guess]], which is eight (8) miles from the town of Wharton. I did not visit this school in the month of June. 
With the exception of a vacation of one month, Bunit[[guess]] Davis has been teaching this school constantly since the twenty first day of June, of the present year. 
Bunit[[guess]] Davis has but little education and is not confident to teach in anything higher than the primer. I have not visited the school taught by Harriet Smith nor have I seen the teacher herself, and consequently I am unable to say anything respecting her qualifications as a teacher. The school taught by Harriet Smith was located on the plantation of Issac. N. Denne which is about one half mile from the town of Wharton. I assumed the position of Sub-Ass't Com'm at this place on the 24th ult. and from that time until the end of the month I was unable to leave my office to visit the
