Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt this date of your communication of the 24th ult, requiring me to forward to your office information respecting private schools for freedmen in my Sub Dist. 
The number of private schools for freedmen in my Sub Dist. in the month of June was two(2).
The teachers of these schools were colored and their names are Burrill Davis & Harriet Smith. The number of pupils in attendance  on the school taught by Burrill Davis was about forty (40) and the number in attendance on the school taught by Harriet Smith was about twenty two (22). Full and complete reports of the schools were forwarded by me to you in the early part of the present month.
