To Col. F.B. Sturgis,
Sub. Asst. Commr.

The undersigned would most respectfully represent. that he has succeeded in making up the numbrs of twenty five scholars. of the children of freedmen in Marlin and vicinity, Falls county Texas, and that the freedmen have rented a house at twelve $12- dollars per month, for the purpose of teaching a school, and that he proposes commencing said school on Monday the fourth day of November. he therefore most respectfully requests that he be appointed first class teacher of said school, under the rules and regulations of the Bureau system, and as is duly bound will ever pray &c.
