Dear Sir!
The box consigned to Mr. Sturgis at Marlin, was forwarded by me on the 13' inst. and is, I hope now arrived at its destination. Mr Sloans box, I have received but not forwarded, Mr Sloan having instructed me to keep it, till he comes here himself.

I have not yet obtained a boarding place for a female teacher at Navasota. If possible send a man, it will be greatly to the advantage of the freedmen. My schoolhouse is nearly finished, I wish you would come up in a week or 2 and see it. I am going to have an examination, and distribute prices [[prizes]] to the best children. They are getting
