Palestine May 7th 1867

Sir
I have to report one school in Palestine for the children of the Freed people of Color in successful operation with fifty-eight schollars, A suitable house has been purchased by the Freedmen, for six hundred dollars. Two hundred dollars has been paid and the other to be paid the 1st day of December 1867. The colored people generally in the County have the subject of schools in earnest consideration, And are determined to take steps to have them. I encourage them in this matter and am decidedly hopeful, we have as yet but the one school opened Monday the 4th day of May [[strikethrough]]last[[/strikethrough]]. Int.
