I have the honor to represent that it was not my intention to have more than one school in this place. I did, & do consider the present school room totally unfitted for the purpose, & generally detremental to the interest of the school. from the time I contracted for the present room I have looking for a more suitable place.

I forwarded to you two propositions, one from A. R. Fromel Agent of the McKinnon Estate, to rent a building to the Bu at $20 00 per month, & one from J. O. Shelby to rent the Stiff House for $12 50 per month, requesting that I might be authorized to rent one, or the other, & give up the present one.

ed According to the roster there is a Lt. I. P. Kirkman so I have used that name since it is on the official roster... but looking at the numerous documents Lt. Kirkman is mentioned his initials look like J.T. instead of I.P. I have seen transcriptions that use both. The man signs his name clearly as J.T. Kirkman, so the roster is incorrect. It is written clearly here as J.T.
