Office S.A.C. B.R.F.& A.L.
Marshall, Texas, June 30/67

Lt. J.T.Kirkman
A.A.A.G.

I find quite a number of intelligent freedmen in this District, many of whom know how to read and write, and as they are anxious to teach school, I would respectfully recommend that a few of them be selected for that purpose.

The freedmen schools are closed until the 1st Oct when the teachers hope to renew this teaching.

Too much credit cannot be given to Mr. and Mrs. Coleman (teachers of freedmen schools at this place) for their energy and ability as teachers.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt Servt.
