Sir:
I have the honor to enclose herewith a Contract made with A.B Trowell, Agent of the "McKein House." for five months for the use of Freedmen's School. 

The reason for me not renting the "Stiff House." in accordance with authority from Hd Qrts. July 3" 1867 [herewith enclosed] is that a rear shed was blown down and the Administrator refused to retain it. The McKein House is for more preferable in every way, & as the rent was but fifty cents more per month I assumed the authority of leasing it.
