place. A good Union man living in Caldwell Co. wishes to get an appointment to teach a colored school in his neighborhood. He has been teaching a school of about 15 pupils. He has been persecuted a good deal on account of his Unionism and is very poor. Although rather illiterate, he is capable of teaching the rudiments, and the neighborhood where he lives is thinly settled and could never support a teacher. His name is E.B. Reynolds, His P.O. address "San Marcos, Hayes Co."

I had not heard of Genl K.s absence before. Those papers ought to be in Galveston; they have stopped coming the other way. My regard coming the other way. My regard to all. In haste

Yours truly
Byron Porter
