September 11th, 1937. Dear Mr. Goudstikker: On August 28., I sent you a little note which has remained unanswered, and consequently I feel that it must have gone astray. Therefore I am sending you these lines covering the same matter. As it seems improbably that I shall be able to make another trip to Amsterdam before returning to New York at the end of the month, I am wondering whether you would be so good as to send the painting of "Venus and Aeneas" to Paris for a few days so that my associates and I might study it further. You will, I know, realize how greatly this would facilitate the matter for me when you consider the short time remaining before my departure for the States. Trusting that I may soon have the pleasure of hearing from you, and with my best regards, Believe me to be, Your very sincerely, Germain Seligmann J. Goudstikker, Esq., Heerengrach 458, Amsterdam, Holland. P.S. Please let me have your answer by telegraph, as I may be leaving Paris shortly. G.S.
