Dear Mr. Goudstikker:

Contrary to my plans when I visited you in Amsterdam a few weeks ago, I am sorry to say that I do not now see my way clear to return to your city in the near future as I had intended.

I am therefore, wondering whether you would be good enough to send to us for the purpose of a closer study, the painting representing "Venus and Aeneas"? As you realize, it would only be a question of having this painting in Paris a very few days.

I would be much obliged if you could do this.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and with my personal regards,

Believe me to be,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Seligmann)
