March 27th, 1956 Dear Mrs. Hein: A short absence from New York prevented me from answering earlier your letter of February 29th. You are asking me whether the painting by VAN GOGH you describe would interest me. I must answer in the negative, as I consider such a price completely unreasonable. You are mentioning a marble statue of a "Kneeling Donor" of which you intend sending me a photograph, and I hope you will be in a position to do so. When I called on you, you showed me a small marble head, which you had sold to Dr. Jacob Hirsch and which his sudden death did not allow him to take possession of. May I inquire what price you quoted me - for, looking up my notes I did not find it - and should you have a photograph of it, please do send it on. It is indeed a very small item, but a charming one, as I remember it. Hoping you are well, and with best personal greetings, Sincerely yours, Germain Seligman Mrs. R.
