Stoughton December 26th 1941

Dear Doris
A fine day is dawning & a frosty morning. we had a delightful day yesterday with lots of presents & over thirty xmas cards. it is funny I receive so many cards as I never send any. I am too old to begin it now. I did send one to Mary French as she is alone in that Maturnity Hospital & never goes out of that one room. but she said that she was going to spend xmas day with Oscars family they live in her old home.

Well after opening the xmas box you sent, I was astonished to find so many presents, candy, figs, linens & table cloth. the pictures of Doris Mrs Barry was dilighted with hers. she said it looks just like her. my dress goods was very handsome. the box of handkerchiefs were very nice & I was in need of them. those linen pieces were very nice the table cover was pretty & the towels were also useful. then the whistling tea kettle was a wonder also pretty shiny & nice. I never saw one before. we had
