as she was not anxious for me to go with Lizzy Baren who lived in our neighborhood, poor Lizzy she was called wild but a mighty smart girl. & died young. we were very fond of each other. she married a wealthy man & died of heart trouble.

I am here alone so have begun my letter to take up my mind. George Belchers widow died & has been brought here from Orleans to be buried in the family lot. she lived a longtime after her husband passed away they have been very good Lilly Meade for some season. if it were not for her Gertrude would be all alone now.
Stoughton is beginning to feel the effects of the dry weather, lawns are drying up for need of rain, hope we get it soon. I am afraid of fires with woods all around me. I wake up in the night & worry. I hope we get moisture before long.
Tom Woods son had all the fingers taken off his right hand, caught in a machine he was running. Doris is learning to cook but she puts too much shortening into her pie crust, makes it hard & greasy. Learn to use less, her picture taken in Maine was very good. has she got over her cough take care & not crowd too much school work on her Ma
