Stoughton April 10th 1941
Dear Doris
We are having a nice springlike day. the first one we have had so far. it seems so good. yesterday I had an Easter plant sent to me by Kate Dykeman. it looked like a great pink boguet (azalea.) I asked her about Louie & she said he was anxious to get to work painting. but of course he cant, she spoke of its being hopeless & being young to give out so soon in life. he has been the one in his family to help them all to die now who will take care of him? as the day advances it is growing cloudy. I have been out in the backyard raking leaves & putting them over in the next field instead of burning them.
Mrs Barry has gone to Brocton with Mrs O'hara. yesterday Mr Bradner came after our old papers to sell them for the benefit of the church he said he would have taken our garbage cans if he had known it. earlier in the day he carried his away & dumped them. they had
