Rec'd Aiken S.C.) Oct 3 1868

Head Quarters D Sub Dist.
Bur R.F. & A.L.
Aiken S.C. Oct. 3. 1868.

Respectfully forwarded to Bvt. Maj. H Neide, A.A.A.G. for instructions as to what action if any - shall be taken in reference to Col. D. Wyatt Aiken's letter.

From the language used in regard to Mr. De Knight in this letter, it is plain that his apprehension of danger to his life is not unfounded.

As he is a faithful officer it is again recommended that a detachment of troops be sent to Abbeville to protect him in the exercise of his duties.
