Lieutenant:

    I have the honor to forward herewith, for the information of the proper authorities.  The Abbeville Banner of this date containing in letter from "D. Wyatt Aiken", giving an extract from my Report on Bureau Affairs for the month of August, ult.  This information must have been obtained either through the P.O. here, or at Hd. Qts: if at the latter place it can only be decided there in what manner.  I have no objection to that publication of my Reports, except that it renders my life here all the more precarious; in fact, it is held now at so slight a tenure, that if possible I should far prefer to be relieved from duty here.  I will state here that shortly after the date of the Report referred to above, a warrant was taken out here against "Davis Stacy" (White, for the murder of Wylie Jones, freedman, by his Son-in-Law.
