Office B R.F. + AL., Abbeville, S.C.. October 2nd, 1868. 1st Lieut Wm. Stone. Sub Asst. Comr. Lieutenant: Shortly after forwarding copy of the Abbeville Banner, on the 30th Ult., containing Extract from my Report on Bureau Affairs for August, I concluded to address a note to the Abbeville Press, the next paper to issue, relative to the charge of falsehood brought by D Wyatt Aiken, concerning the murder of Wylie Jones freedman. I now have the honor to forward a copy of the Press, just out, containing my note. In the same paper you will also find a very characteristic editorial on the whole subject. I beg to likewise call your attention to an account which it likewise contains of the murder of the colored & white man on the road near Loundsville, previously referred to. The white, as well as the black man, is said to have been a Republican. Very Respectfully. Your Obt. Servt., W.F. De Knight. Clerk BR.F. & A.L.
