Past year, will get more than I gave them.

I was up in that neighborhood on the 11' inst. I saw Mr Conner his nearest Neighbor. Whetsel has employed him, to fix up a New set of Books, between himself, & Freedmen, for the past year. If I, or any other Agent, must reinvestigate this case, I respectfully request, that a settlement be made from Whetsels original Books. I have done the best I could in settling this Case, without fear or favor, believing my action, has not been truthfully represented, I have only to add, that, if it is desirable that I shall put the Bureau to the expense, of going up there again to reinvestigate this Case, that I shall in all probability ratify what I have already done. I further beg leave to call your attention to Magistrate J.S.A. Howell's, (a neighbor to Mr Whetsel, and a Southern man), Statement. If in view of all the facts above set forth, this case must be reviewed, I hope it may be done by some other Agent of the Bureau. Awaiting your further orders in the matter
