Dear Sir,
My son returned your books with thanks for the loan.
Some ten days ago I addressed a note to you asking to whom I am to refer complaints against a Military Officer of Breach of the Peace &c &c. As I have received no reply I infer that my note has miscarried - I therefore repeat my request. I have thus far withheld the complaint because an examination cannot fail to bring very serious consequences to the party complained of. But his conduct may make it necessary that I prosecute the matter.
At present I would prefer getting an answer to my question from some other source than Headquarters.
