Chas H Suydam. A.A. Surgn. States. "I am Act'g Asst. Surgeon U.S.A. and was formerly Surgeon of the 34th New Jersey Regt. and have been serving at Moncks Corner S.C. since Oct. 29th 1867, and have lived across the road near Lieut. F.W.Leidtke and have seen nearly every day since Oct.29th 1867, and have been a judge of the Provost Court for Berkeley Dist, and have sat with him as such since Dec.9th, 1867. I know that Lieut Leidtke has not been under the influence of liquor on any day the Court was in session. I know that the statement that he has been in that condition is untrue. I have never seen him at anytime under the influence of liquor during business hours. I did see him once a little under the influence of liquor, I think, but it was at his private residence. I have been in the habit of visiting him at all hours of the day and evening. My family and his are intimate and we visit each other frequently. I know of no such occurrence as Lt Leidtke abusing his wife. I never heard he tried to seduce or have intercourse with a colored woman.  I know Dr. Sanford W Barker a Magistrate. Dr. Barker has most certainly to my knowledge been trying to intimidate us in the discharge of our duties as Provost Judges. He has written letters considered
