Bvt. Maj. L. Walker
Sub-Ass't Commis
Aiken S.C.

Major,

I have the honor to report that in obedience to Special Order No. 1 &c from your Office I have visited Abbeville C.H. and made a thorough inspection of the Office at that place and furnished the D.H. Hart, Agent, such instruction as he appeared to need.

The Record of Letters sent is an ordinary Letter Copying Book. The Letter Press does not belong to this Bureau but is borrowed from some private individual.

The other Records of the Office are scattered indiscriminately through four Record books. Neither Capt. Becker nor any of his successors seem to have followed any system in regard to keeping books.

Mr. Hart needs one or two new blank books which he states he has made requisition for.
