The State vs. Addisson Cockfield
Petit Larceny
In the Destitute Court
Wms.Burgh Dist.

This was an indictment for stealing a plow. The testimony was conflicting. Joseph Cockfield, the Prosecutor, said the plow was his, & that he recognized it; that he sometimes worked in iron, and recognized the plow as having been "pointed" by him.

Addison Cockfield and others for the Defense said the plow belonged to the defendant, and that it had been in his possession for several years.

I do not recollect that the council brought to the notice of the Court the distinction between a plow and a plow share, contended for in the first ground of appeal. I thought that the wright of evidence was to favor of the Defendant. The case was submitted on the evidence and the jury found a verdict of guilty. Defendant appeal on the [[?]] grounds.

(Signed) T.B. Logan
Dist. Judge.
