enraged, and after using very abusive language, left and went home to Mr Crews, where she had been at work. In about an hour, she returned, and again demanded the cloths, saying Mrs Crews had sent her; at the same time shaking her fist, in Mrs Speers face, saying she would have her life or the cloths; and if she did not kill her then, she would at some future time. Mrs Speers sent immediately for me but when I arrived at the house, Frances had left, I had her arrested immediately, and Mr Matt the magistrate fixed her bail at Three Hundred Dollars. I never made any threats whatever, or tried to persecute her in any way. I said however, that there was other misdemeanors, she had been guilty of, for which she could be arrested; but I did not say that in a threatening manner. There is nothing in this case, that I have said, or done, that I regret in the least, as I acted conscientiously, and only in the discharge of what I knew to be my imperative duty.

I am Sir.
Very Respectfully
