Major,
On the 10th inst. it was necessary for me to make a journey to Allendale Barnwell Co. for the purpose of paying some accounts the Checks for which could not be trusted to reach the parties by mail, and to ascertain the condition of the freedmen in that portion of my Sub-District.
I returned to this place last night
AS the journey was on necessary Bureau duty, I have the honor to request an order confirming the same.
