I would also respectfully state that our attempts to purchase at the Commissary at  Savannah met with no success. We were refused permission to do so until we procured an order from the Georgia Subsistence Department. Will you be kind enough to let me know whether that is procurable? We teachers really suffer some hardships from the necessity of purchasing at small country stores. 
The Charleston Commissary is quite inaccessible to us, as we have no friend there to make purchases and the freight & loss by Steamboat beside the carting from Beaufort, & crossing the ferry, would make charges high a pocket boat runs from
