Sir: In reply to your communication at Sept 25" I have the honor to state that the Trustees of the school for the freed people at this place have requested me to apply to you for a teacher (a lady if possible) and have promised a large attendance and liberal support. I am of the opinion that a white lady would find the situation pleasant and profitable. I have myself ascertained that a comfortable hom for her can be obtained in a respectable family. I will answer that part of your letters referring to the School at Lavaca, where I hear from the school teacher at that place, to whom I have written. I am Sir
