Sir

I am The said Watt Bonner. Have ben a Regular School Teacher for freedmen & Refugees, in The said State of Texas, for the last 3 years, and now I wishes very much to bring my School under the rule of the Government, it is said by the most of our School Agents who have visit our Schools in time past, That I had the discipline of the best School system that they ever seen taughted for freedmen in the State of Texas so Mr Welch I most humbly beseach you for the kind leave and offer of teaching the Government School, as you The Superintendent of Schools for Freedmen & refugees, in the State of Texas. I feels it my loftly deauty to call upon you for this sweet impression of my enquiring wishes, I am a Colored Gentleman,,

Watt Bonner is my name,,
and to Educate the children,,
have always ben my aim,

I am in great hopes that you will ordaain and Licent me as a regular Government School sargent

I will Thank you more then much to forward me a mediate reply and send the Licent with the answer
