Victoria, Texas, Dec. 31st 1869. Rev. Joseph Welch. Dear Sir I have the honor to ask of you information, in regard to School matters. Now being that Mrs. R. [[Trussell? Frussell?]] has possession of the School House built by the Government, and I am compelled to Rent my own house for School purposes; whether or not I am compelled to report to you as I have done heretofore, and I beg of you information as soon as possible, being as my next session will open Jan. 10th 1870. I have also engaged an assistant Teacher, a freedman; to assist me in the next session. I have rented the Male Academy, being the largest house in Victoria. I also expect to teach Freedman school in Victoria, as long as the Lord spares me for ten or more years. I will have 150 Scholars next session. no more at present, I will close in Love, Purity & Fidelity. Your Obedient Servant. L.M. Brown.
