Dear Sir,
I am informed that the freedmen get assistance at other places from your department for the purpose of building their school houses, and paying their tuition. I do not know it to be a fact but I want to get information from you for the report has been a great draw back in building up this school. Last summer they made a great effort to buy land and built but they were treated so badly by the opposite party that all their efforts were invain, until now they have made a purchase of a piece of land which cost $112.00 in Specie which enables them to build until another season. Therefore if it is in your power to assist us here in this work
