Mr Jos Welch
Supt. of Ed.
Austin,

Dear Sir,
I have the happiness to acknowledge the receipt of your favor of the 14 inst and hasten to reply = the note given me by Capt. J. P. Butler as Bureau Agt. I think a sir the office at head quarters. it was there when Genl Camby ordered it payment, & I presume it is still there. The amt of note was $326.90 Gold &
the labor done & of material furnished in [[strikethrough]] 1866 or [[/strikethrough]] 67. And I really believe I ought to have some interest. I cannot say when Mr Beasley note is, He is now living near Houston. I hope your will arrange and
send me my amt at once as I have a judgement to pay within 30 days: any I know of no other chance
to get the money. This Sheriff sale was of no effect
as Genl Reynolds had previous to the explanation of the Bureau law forbid the sale, which order had [[?]] been resinded. Returning your many thanks for the consummation of this payment.
