  Dear Sir,
I return receipt for check for War rent. Rec'd yr. note of 28th [[?]] Mr. Stearn's returned several weeks ago over a month I think, we have been trying 
faithfully since the second day after his arrival to get those desks but have not the use of them yet. Mr Burly went to see him, and he sent him to his former-partner- for the lumber, but-he refused to let him have it. After much urging the lumber
(part of it) was sent to the school house [[strikethrough]] last week; but it was undresses,
[[?]] Mr Stearns ^ came and sent it back to the will to have it dressed, and they promised to send it back as soon as it was done Mr Burly said that they told him at the mill that all the lumber was
sawed, but some other lumber was
