him that he must get the desks done first. Mr S. told not to mind that he would make that all right [[strikethrough]] out Robt. does not seem inclined to accept the proposition says he will do the work this week if he can get the lumber I hope to get some good from them yet-before school closes. I regret that I have seen compelled to do without them so long as the year has been lost-so the scholars as far as writing is considered, and the ^ some of parents as well as myself have been quite anxious that they should learn that,
 I hope to see you at Houston at their May-party next Saturday and hope to [[?]] prospects more favorable. Mr S. was very pleasant to me, and very
