Mr. Stearmes paid him $8.00 last night which he needed to get provisions with. I hope the lumber bill will not be so great that he will not get what he ought to have for the work. It has been a good deal more than he expected to do as the lumber was not prepared as he expected. He tried to please me and the work looks nicely now, if it does not spoil in seasoning - which perhaps it will not; now it is in the shade.
The people are much pleased with the improved appearance of the church, and are talking of making other improvements.

Very truly yours,
Martha E. Green
