the lumber and not pay what is just for the work. If any one looses on that contract I think it ought to be Mr. Stearns himself for he has cheated the people out of more than the whole am't by depriving them of the use of the desks the whole year is lost to them as far as writing is considered.
Robert is a poor man with a large family to support and needs every cent her can earn. He took great pains to do the work to please me and did more than the contract called for as the lumber was dressed, and he had to do it by hand. There were a good many little extras to be done to fit all property which I presume took more time than was calculated upon when the work was planned. As near as I can ascertain he ought to receive $14.00 $15.00 at least for what he has done. When the work was partly done Mr. Stearns
