had not progressed so far when I got your letter in. I would have given up and thought best to have the contract amended. I thought all the bother was nearly at an end when that letter came and we needed the desks so much and the people had expected them so long that I did not like to disappoint them. 
Please do one the favor to answer immediately. Should Mr. Stearns say anything before to one on the subject I should feel like telling him pretty plainly what I think of him. I don't care for his good nature now that shall not need to ask anything more of him.
