At this juncture I have stated that as a Government teacher I shall have to hear from you, and await your orders. 

Perhaps you would not have any objection. to my taking charge, or of commencing a High School something of an advanced order for these people, and collecting the best scholars from Gonzales Bastrop & Fayette Counties. 

But while I make this suggestion, I hope you will not think that I am not ready to go to any place & occupy any position which you may think to offer to me. Please favor me with an answer as early as may be convenient & much oblige

P.S. If I should suggest what should be done with Mr. Shellmack during the Period of Bureau I should say change Mr. S. to some other point & send another teacher here who would be efficient & merciful. This is of course private, but should you wish proof I could make the matter amply certified. But all matters of this kind being made public only reflects discredit on the rest of the Body of Teachers. of whom I am one.
