Sir - 

We have raised money sufficient to purchase ground on which to build a school-house and it is now in the bank ($300 00/100 specie) ready to pay for the land - there is some difference of opinion with regard to the best location for the house & it would be much the most satisfactory to the freedmen generally if you would come up and designate what locality you would think the most eligable - We are very anxious that we have a school house erected immediately -  We have two places in view - One is about five hundred yards from the white peoples male college & is about five hundred yards also from the public square - A number of families of freedmen are settled in the vicinity.
