Please excuse the liberty I take in addressing you at the request of a large number of Freedmen I do so in our immediate neighborhood there is 80 or 100 coloured children that ought to be at school and we have no house for that purpose and having made two efforts to build one by subscription and failed. They know appeal to you to know if we can get some help from the government The house to accommodate that number ought to be 24ft by 40ft one story high. There is some 4000 acres of land cultivated by Freedmen in my neighborhood and all could send to the same school house I propose to donate a beautiful site near the center and render all the aid otherwise in my power.
