Dear Sir:
Your letter of April 28th, in reference to Mr. Norton, is at hand. He has not written here lately regarding the Houston teachers, but has acknowledged that he was sorry for the spirit in which his letters in regard to Miss Nickerson were written.

I consider the letter in the same light that you do, and they have had no influence at all in our estimation of Miss N. The only communication which we have recd lately from Mr. Norton is one in which he tenders his resignation I am daily expecting Genrl Howard to return from Washington hence have not replied to this last letter and do not know what will be the General's action upon it. The Genl will probably be glad to have your judgement in the matter. It is possible that Mr. Norton may propose to return to Houston if he dissolves his connection with the Association

Very Truly Yours
S N Clark
