Bastrop April 30 1868

Lieut J P Richardson,
A.A.A.G.

There is very little interest shown by the whites in providing educational privileges for any class.

The freedpeople have a shown a great interest in the cause of education. During the month but little has been done as everybody is extremely busy getting in the crop. A good teacher will be needed here next month as the new school house is about ready

Very Resp. &c
